Optional Hunnyboots Padded Inserts

Some dogs need a little more underfoot support, especially those dealing with injuries, corns, or tender pads. Our EVA and latex inserts are designed to add soft, shock-absorbing comfort inside any size of our Summer or Winter Hunnyboots. For the right hound, they can make a real difference.

Start Without Them

We recommend fitting the boots without inserts the first time your dog wears them. Let your hound get used to the feel of the boots on their feet. As they become more comfortable, you can introduce the inserts if you feel extra padding might help.

Fitting the Inserts

If you’re using inserts:

• Make sure the toe end of the insert is pushed all the way to the front of the boot
• Check that the insert lies flat and smooth, without any folds or wrinkles
• Ensure the boot fits securely without being too tight
• In larger sizes like Large and X-Large, an incorrectly fitted insert can sometimes shift during wear. This may cause the boot to twist or feel unstable.

When to Put Them In

For dogs with sore toes, pad injuries, or painful corns, the softer feel underfoot can bring real relief. The added cushioning can reduce pressure and make walking more comfortable.

When to Leave Them Out

Not all dogs like the sensation of extra padding underfoot. Some may not adjust to it, no matter how well the insert is fitted. If the boots twist sideways or your dog seems unsure on their feet, remove the inserts and use the boots without them. Padded inserts are not necessary for every dog, and Hunnyboots already have generous built-in padding.

Do Hunnyboots need inserts?

As this cross section of a boot shows, there's 4mm of rubber sole beneath a sewn insole of 2mm EVA foam. This is sufficient for many dogs and the standard base of every Hunnyboot. Adding inserts, like your own human shoes, adds varying layers to give added durability and comfort.

EVA Foam Inserts

EVA is our standard fitted insert. Firmer than the latex version, EVA foam is hardwearing but with enough cushioning to add an extra later of comfort to an already comfortable boot. This is best suited for hard-wearing, hard-stepping adventure dogs. The foam is bonded with tough polyester and perforated to allow air movement. 

Latex Foam Inserts

Latex foam is our softest fitted insert. It is luxurious memory foam and the perfect solution for dogs with corns or sensitive pads. As soft and plush as any latex or memory foam mattress, your dog will be stepping on clouds.

The latex insert also has the added benefit of being able to be positioned within the boots to offset foot issues such as sprung toes or arthritic pain that often manifests as lameness or an uneven gait.

Both our inserts are tailored to accommodate both Summer and Winter boots across all sizes. These inserts ensure a personalised fit, providing a no-nonsense solution to corn-related discomfort. Packaged in pairs, they seamlessly integrate for ease of use.
