Important Update for US Customers

U.S. Shipping Update – August 2025
We want to keep our U.S. customers fully informed about what is happening with shipping right now.
What happened
On 26 August 2025, the U.S. government unexpectedly changed its import rules under Executive Order 14324. From that date:
- The USD $800 duty-free allowance was removed.
- All import duties and taxes must now be prepaid before parcels leave Australia.
- Australia Post immediately suspended U.S. parcel services with zero notice so they could implement a compliant system.
What this means for Hunnyboots
- We cannot currently ship new orders to the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
- All pre-orders are safe. They will ship as soon as Australia Post reopens U.S. parcel services using the new system.
- Letters and documents are unaffected, but all goods are on hold.
Why duties are higher now
Because our boots are made in China, U.S. Customs applies multiple layers of tariffs. Duties currently add up to about 58 percent on top of the product plus shipping cost. Previously, duties were collected by Customs after the parcel landed. Now they must be paid in advance before parcels can leave Australia.
What you should do
- If you already placed a pre-order, you do not need to take any action right now. Your order is safe and will be shipped as soon as possible.
- If you are considering a new order, we recommend waiting until U.S. shipping is restored.
- You can join our mailing list and we will notify you the moment services resume.
We are here for you
We know this is frustrating, and we share your disappointment, especially with zero notice. Hunnyboots exists to help sighthounds everywhere, and we are working closely with Australia Post and Zonos® to reopen U.S. shipping as soon as possible.
This pause does not change our commitment to the United States. Hunnyboots USA has already been set up to make life easier for our American customers. Once in place, it will mean stock on the ground in the U.S., simpler shipping, easier returns, and much lower duties. Our goal is to have Hunnyboots USA running before Christmas, so greyhounds, whippets and iggies across America can get the boots and coats they need without the red tape.
And we are not alone in this. The national postal services of New Zealand, Belgium, Britain, Denmark, France and India have made the same service suspensions. That gives us some comfort, and we hope it reassures you too that this is a worldwide adjustment, not just Hunnyboots.

Will my pre-order be cancelled?
No. All pre-orders are safe. They will be shipped as soon as Australia Post reopens services under the new compliance system.
Why are you suddenly asking about duties and taxes?
Until now, U.S. Customs collected duties after parcels landed. From 26 August 2025, duties must be prepaid before parcels leave Australia. This rule change came without warning and applies to every international seller, not just Hunnyboots.
How much duty is involved?
At present, duties on our boots and coats made in China add up to about 58 percent on top of the product and shipping cost. This is a U.S. government tariff decision.
Why can other countries still order?
These new requirements apply only to parcels entering the United States and Puerto Rico. Orders to Australia, Europe, Asia and elsewhere are unaffected.
Are you the only company affected?
No. National postal services in New Zealand, Belgium, Britain, Denmark, France and India have made the same service suspensions. This is a global adjustment, not just Hunnyboots.
Can I use a freight forwarder or a non-U.S. address?
If you have access to a non-U.S. address, you can use it at checkout. Please be aware that forwarding may add extra costs and delays, and Hunnyboots cannot take responsibility for those arrangements.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes. If you would prefer not to wait, we will issue you a full refund. Please contact us at support@hunnyboots.com.
What is Hunnyboots USA and how will it help?
We are establishing Hunnyboots USA with stock held in the U.S. This will mean easier and faster shipping, simpler returns and much lower duties. Our aim is to be operating before Christmas 2025.
